HTC has just launched a new Smartphone under the brand One Mini 2. This gadget is priced at hefty 65,000 INR. In fact in a country like India this single factor could eventually stand in the way to make the product popular among the country’s consumer segment. In fact Samsung, with its overwhelmingly popular Galaxy S5 is currently leading the entire Smartphone segment in the country. As such Galaxy S5 or for that matter Sony’s Xperia Z2 both are pretty reasonably priced compared to this one. Let us now, get into its significant features, along with technical specifications.
First of all, the device supports a host of network including 2G, 3G and 4 G respectively. As such, versions of 3G network that it supports are HSDPA 900 / 1900 / 2100 – EMEA version, HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 – Asia version and HSDPA 850 / 1900 / 2100 – AT&T version, respectively.
4G network versions supported by One Mini 2 are LTE 800 / 1800 / 2600 – EMEA version, LTE 900 / 1800 / 2100 / 2600 – Asia version and LTE 700 / 850 / 1700 / 1900 / 2100 – AT&T version, respectively.
These apart this product supports both GPRS and EDGE.
Supporting Bluetooth configuration is v4.0 with A2DP.
It also supports micro USB v2.0.
The mobile device comes with a pair of cameras. The primary one is 13 MP, with 4128×3096 pixels. Moreover, the autofocus camera has LED flashlight, a 1/3 inches sensor and facilitates like geo tagging, face and smile detection, etc.
It captures High Definition video of 1080 pixels at a rate of 30 frames per second.
The secondary camera is configured at 5 megapixels and performs at 1080p at 30 FPS.
The product, moreover, has an inbuilt radio, along with a set of sensors including Accelerometer, Proximity, Gyro and Compass. In-built amplifiers facilitate stereophonic audio output.
The phone possesses micro SIM with 1 GB RAM and 16 GB internal memory. Supporting Android O/S is Jelly Bean (v 4.2.2) and that is guaranteed upgradable to KitKat (v 4.4.2).
Supporting chipset is Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 and the phone’s CPU is Dual-core 1.4 GHz Krait 200. The GPU is Adreno 305.
Messaging options that it supports include SMS (threaded view), MMS, Email and Push Email. The device weighs just 137 grams and measures 137.4 x 65 x 10.6 mm in dimension. Its display type is Super LCD2 capacitive touchscreen, supporting a full range of 16M colours. The screen supports a resolution of 720×1280 pixels and measures 4.5 inches. Moreover, it possesses multi touch display and is coated with Corning Gorilla Glass 3, which makes it immune to normal use and wear.
However, coming back to the topic with which this review was initiated; it seems, HTC does not want to cater to all segments of the Indian consumers, or else it would have reconsidered the price of this recently-launched product.
